MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP
Fall 2007 - September - December 2007
Central Square Theater is looking for an unpaid summer intern to assist our Marketing Director with several marketing initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Marketing Director on branding, redesign of website, and media relations.
Our resident professional theater companies, The Nora Theatre Company & Underground Railway Theater are staging upcoming productions. Both events will occur in the fall, and the intern will assist in developing marketing strategies and promotional materials. The intern will also have a vital role in assisting with the planning for Central Square Theater’s grand opening event (scheduled for winter of 2008) and in establishing strategic alliances with local businesses and organizations that are located in Cambridge (specifically Central Square). The Intern will also write articles for the E-newsletter, conduct research, and perform administrative tasks.
This internship is a great opportunity for someone looking to hone their marketing and communication skills while working at a great community organization. We are open to your thoughts and ideas, and are looking for a self-starter.
Must commit to 15-25 hours per week for the duration of the semester. While some work can be done from home with communication over email, intern must be able to spend 2 days per week in the office. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Quark are a plus. If intern is interested in college credit for their work, we will assist students with the process at their university. Contact Claudia Castro, Managing Director, The Nora Theatre Company at ccastro@thenora.org with resume and cover letter including intended time commitment.
The Central Square Theater will provide a home to Underground Railway Theater (URT) and The Nora Theatre Company, two professional theater companies with a combined track record of over 48 years of excellence. URT has a 29 year history of connecting high quality professional theater with communities, performing new plays for young audiences, families and adults, and teaching through its rigorous education programming. Combining actors, puppetry and music, URT reaches out to and engages diverse audiences with performances of great beauty and compelling social content. During The Nora's 19 years, audiences and the media have recognized it for its exceptionally high quality work. Mission-driven to bring cutting-edge, thought-provoking, and contemporary productions to New England audiences, The Nora has introduced local audiences to Boston, New England, and/or world premieres.
At the Central Square Theater, a brand new state-of-the-art community-based theatrical arts facility, audiences will find, under one roof, the distinctive repertoires of two award-winning non-profit professional companies as well as collaborative projects drawing on their creative synergy. Schools, families and community groups will benefit from outreach and educational programs, and local businesses will enjoy increased foot traffic and new customers. As the first permanent home for both professional theater companies, Central Square Theater will be a vibrant hub of theatrical, educational and social activity, where artists and audiences come together to create theater vital to the community.
